Epsom’s University for the Creative Arts is a very forward-thinking establishment, which had set high sustainability targets for its new teaching block, comprising an auditorium, classrooms and a large reception area. BBS involved the latest innovations in energy saving, from PV solar systems to full lighting controls and natural ventilation, monitored to react to external conditions. As a result of its approach to environmental sustainability, UCA Epsom became the first university in England to achieve the BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating for energy conservation.
